Calculate the hypotenuse
The hypotenuse is opposite the right angle and is always the longest side. You need both other side lengths to calculate it.
Formula and check
Use c = √(a² + b²). For legs 5 and 12, c = √(25 + 144) = 13. Check that the result exceeds both legs.
