Distance formula in a coordinate plane
To find the distance between two points, draw a right triangle. The changes in x and y are its two legs.
Worked example
Between (1, 2) and (4, 6), the differences are 3 and 4. The distance is √(3² + 4²) = 5. Start with small whole numbers on a grid.
