Grade 3 maths: simple practice with answers

In Grade 3, children benefit from meeting the same maths idea in different ways. A short session with one focus often works better than a long mixed worksheet.

1. Multiplication as groups Draw four groups of three dots. How many dots altogether? Write both 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12 and 4 × 3 = 12. Change the number of groups and let the child draw them.

Create a times-tables sheet with answers, for one table or several.

2. A two-step word problem Example: “There are 24 pencils. Four children share them equally. Each gets two more. How many does each child have?” First 24 ÷ 4 = 6, then 6 + 2 = 8. Ask the child to underline the question and explain both steps.

3. Time in everyday life Write two times, such as 2:00 and 2:30. Ask what happens between them and draw the clock hands. Start with whole and half hours before moving to quarter hours.
